Google It?

Dear Faith Family,
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight, (Proverbs 3:6).
So, you’re watching a movie, and you realize: “I’ve seen that actor before!” Can’t remember where? What show? Google it. Dishwasher making funny noises? Google it. Can’t remember how to reset the maintenance light on the dashboard of your car? Google it. Want to know how to build some shelves in the garage? Google it. Not sure which thermostat to purchase? Google it. Need some ideas for an anniversary present (like for your fortieth anniversary, hypothetically asking for a friend)? Google it.
Are you starting to see a theme? But that’s yesterday’s source. And before that it was phone a friend. Today it’s AI! (Does it concern anybody else that the first letter represents the word “artificial”? Just sayin’.) It seems that we all have our sources. And when do we most often seek out those sources? When we’ve reached the end of our knowledge, or strength, or patience?
I guess what I’m getting at is this. What is your source? Your go to? We’re all familiar with Proverbs 3:5that instructs us to trust in the Lord and to not lean on our own understanding. Verse six can fail to make our memory list. That whole acknowledge Him part. The idea of being consciously aware of the presence of the Lord. The concept of the Lord being your source.
And here’s a thing. Proverbs 3:6 calls us to acknowledge the Lord in all of our ways! It seems that trusting the Lord for our salvation is just the beginning of a new way of living. The Word of God calls us to include our true Source in all of our ways! That would invite us to talk to our Lord about everything in our lives, big and small, whether we’re smooth sailing or stalled out.
A couple of thoughts? One: in everything! There is no part of your life exempt from the interest of your loving Lord! He calls us into an awareness of His presence all day every day! Two: the difficulties of life often remind us (sometimes gently, sometimes not) that our Lord is here. He is present. Trials, challenges, and difficulties can serve as a tool to steer us back to acknowledging our Lord in everything! Wouldn’t that make our trials good?
You can still ask Google how to change your car’s oil. But maybe there’s a better starting place? Maybe include your Lord in everything?!
