'Twas The Day Before Christmas

‘Twas the day before Christmas, when all through the house
Every creature was stirring, including the mouse!
The stockings were flung on the mantle with care
(well, some care, as much as time would allow)
In hopes that the pets would leave them all there.
The children were restless and not in their beds,
While visions of iPhones danced in their heads.
And I on my pc and mom on her mac,
Sighed with exhaustion and prayed for a nap.
When up on the screen there arose such a clatter (you know – like the error message),
I sprang from my pc to find what was the matter.
First to the modem I flew like a flash,
Then checked the account in search of more cash.
The moon marked the end of this hopeless mad quest,
Oh how do I manage? Let’s face it, I’m stressed!
Are those camels and donkeys and sheep that I hear,
A nativity suggesting that Christ would appear?
Oh the wonder, the thoughts, in my head that I thought,
That Christmas isn’t the stuff that I bought.
It ain’t about cleaning or food or football,
And an empty manger is empty – that’s all!
So, stop for a moment and gaze on the hay,
Take note of The Child there on display.
And know why He came and who He came for,
Tarry a while until you are sure.
Now gather the family and worship the King,
Lift up your voices, together let’s sing!
“Silent night holy night All is calm (even if you’re shopping’s not done) all is bright.”
“Silent night holy night,
Son of God love’s pure light.
Radiant beams from Thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace.”
Merry Christmas to all, Pastor Karl
